MWAN is the regulatory body responsible for developing and organizing the waste management sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its goal is to build an integrated and sustainable national system that promotes the circular economy and preserves the environment, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
MWAN is tasked with regulating, planning, oversight, and incentivizing private investment , in addition to issuing licenses to facilities and investors in the sector, based on specific requirements and standards that ensure the protection of the environment and public health.
The center regulates and licenses activities related to r  the collection, transportation, sorting, storage, treatment, and final disposal of waste, while also monitoring post- disposal site care. MWAN supports research and innovation in circular and advanced  waste management solutions and supports digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency. MWAN is committed to capacity building through specialized training programs to qualify national talent and encourages investment in waste management projects—excluding radioactive, nuclear, and military waste—in order to create investment opportunities that support financial sustainability.
Through these efforts, MWAN contributes to improving quality of life, conserving natural resources, and enhancing the efficient use of waste as a sustainable economic resource for the future.
