Technical Tours

Registration is now OPEN!

The Technical Tours of the Congress will take place during the morning and part of the afternoon of Thursday, October 30th.

The cost is $50 USD per person, which includes transportation by bus from the congress venue to the visit location and back to the starting point.

The exact departure time and address will be provided in due course.

Both visits will be held simultaneously, so participants must choose only one of the two options.

Technical Tour 1: Buenos Aires Environmental Complex Norte III – CEAMSE

Located in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, it receives an average of 436,325 tonnes/month of Urban Solid Waste (USW) generated in the City of Buenos Aires and 34 other municipalities in the province, accounting for approximately 85% of the waste generated in the Greater Buenos Aires and serving a population of about 14,000,000 inhabitants.

The environmental complex consists of:

•1 Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant that processes 1,200 tonnes/day.
•1 Composting plant that receives 800 tonnes of green waste/month
•3 Leachate treatment plants (one treating 2,000 m3/day) operating with ultra- and nanofiltration.
Biogas capture and gas-treatment systems that generate 25 Mwh of electricity.
Eco-brick manufacturing unit using bio-stabilized organic material from the TMB
11 Social plants (Reciparque) that employ 724 waste-pickers and collectively process 15,000–19,000 tonnes/month (approx. 7% material recovery)

Technical Tour 2: Recycling Center of the City of Buenos Aires

The Recycling Center was established to treat the waste generated in the City of Buenos Aires that were was previously sent to landfills.

The Center has five treatment plants:

• The construction and demolition waste plant, which processes over 3,000
tons daily ofdebris, mainly used in construction for filling, paving, and other
activities.
• The PET bottle plant that can treat 16 tons per day, shredding, washing, and
dryingbottles to produce reprocessable flakes for making new bottles,
cleaning brushes,containers, and clothing.
• The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) that automatically separates
recyclablematerials—paper, cardboard, plastics, metals, and glass.
• The Green and wood waste plant.
• The organic waste treatment plant that handles specially segregated organic
materialmainly from restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, and hospitals.
