Abstract submission

Call for abstracts

The submission of abstracts is now open!

Abstracts must be submitted on-line. Abstracts sent by post, fax or e-mail are not accepted.

The deadline to submit an abstract for the ISWA 2025 World Congress is 1 March, 2025.

Before submitting an abstract, carefully read the guidelines below.

Main congress topics

The Congress aims to promote and disseminate knowledge on advancing waste management practices and supporting the transition to a Circular Economy, aligned with ISWA’s mission. The focus will be on the following main topics:

Practical guidelines

By submitting an abstract, the author(s) give(s) permission for the abstract and full paper, when accepted, to be published in the Congress Proceedings (ISBN classification), on all digital media of the ISWA Congress as well as at ISWA Knowledge Base. The best applied ones might be published in a special edition of the Waste Management & Research Journal. This is a monthly professional journal published under the auspices of ISWA. Waste Management & Research (WM&R) publishes articles related to both the theory and practice of waste management and research.

Authors presenting papers in an oral session will also be requested to submit their PowerPoint, Prezi or Keynote presentation prior to the congress.

A maximum of 3 abstracts can be submitted for review by each author.

Authors are requested to follow the instructions below for an easy and correct Abstract submission:

The required personal data on the corresponding author needs to be completed, as well as the following information on the abstract to be presented:


• Abstract title (max. 200 characters)
• Presentation format preference (oral presentation / poster presentation)
• Selected congress topic
• Abstract text (max. 3000 incl. spaces): careful typing and proof-reading are essential as the abstract will not be edited or corrected by the Congress organizers
• The required personal data of the co-author(s) (if any) needs to be completed.
• Upon finalization, the submit button needs to be clicked for final submission of the abstract. A screen will appear informing that the abstract has been submitted successfully. Once the abstract is submitted, changes, corrections or rewording are no longer possible.


After submission, the corresponding author will receive an e-mail confirming that the abstract was submitted successfully. Authors are advised that this confirmation of abstract submission is NOT a notification of acceptance. In case the confirmation of submission is not received within one week after submitting the abstract, please contact the ISWA 2025 Congress Secretaria at ars@isalud.edu.ar

Review

The abstract will be reviewed by the WC Scientific Committee.

The corresponding author will receive an e-mail with the Scientific Committee’s decision on the abstract at the latest by April 30, 2025. Notifications will be sent by e-mail only.

The corresponding author is the contact person for the Congress organizers about the abstract(s) and is responsible for sharing all the information regarding abstract submission with possible co-authors.

Registration

Having an abstract accepted for presentation at the ISWA 2025 Solid Waste World Congress does NOT imply automatic registration for the Congress. Abstract presenters are required to register to attend the ISWA 2025 Solid Waste World Congress by following the instructions for registration on the Congress website https://iswa2025.org/registration-fees/  (available in 2025).

If the presenting author of an accepted abstract cannot attend, (s)he is requested to assign one of the co-authors as presenting author and inform the Congress Secretariat of the replacement as soon as possible.
